Das Deutsche Volk + discussion

This screening will be followed by an audience Q&A, and discussion between director Marcin Wierzchowski and Paul Leworthy, Leverhulme Early Career Fellow at the School of Modern Languages, Newcastle University. On the night of February 9, 2020, a racist attacker shot and killed nine young people in Hanau, leaving behind mourning families and survivors who fight not just for their lost loved ones but also for truth and justice. Director Marcin Wierzchowski accompanies them for four years as they take an untiring stand to ensure the attack is not forgotten – and poses the pressing question once again: Who belongs to Germany and who doesn’t? Content warning: The film contains a brief scene showing an ox being slaughtered. This event has been generously supported by the Heinrich Böll Foundation, The Goethe Institute, and the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service)documentaryPT2H12M152026-04-29
